One of the parents in my first grade classroom gave me the nicest compliment. Her child is such a sweetheart. He has big cheeks and a toothless grin. He has a lot of energy and his growth this year was incredible. I attribute it to his sister. She is v special. And his sister I attribute to his mom. Nevertheless his mom said to me: "Do I need to write something about what a great teacher you are? (2023, Jolly Mom).
One of the other parents in my first grade classroom gave me a mixed review. I love her daughter. The big eyes. The high bun. The great love of dolphins and reading and her ease with mathematics. She really got along well w everyone and I love kids like that. Her mom said to me; "I do not know what you are doing but thank you, Mandy loves to read." (2023, Mandy Mom).
Another parent used to come in and volunteer to oversee recess and lunch. He adopted a fairly laid back approach to education, actually wanting to be in first grade himself given the trauma he experienced in his own first grade classroom (poor guy); he said in a pretty cool way "I like what is going on in this first-grade classroom." (2023, Lily Dad).
But, my favorite positive review has to have come from 6 year old Emi; she said after a morning full of traditional Catholic School lecturing on everything from Pope Benedict the 16th to Jane Goodall (Women's History Month) to Michael Jordan (and taking the shot- Catholic School Basketball) "I never knew adults knew so much;" and I equally loved her mom's reaction when I told her the story (2023, Emi Mom).
